Sightseeing in Slovenia

Slovenia surprises with unnumbered natural sights. On just a tiny spot of Europe the quaintest characteristics of geographical worlds are unified: the Alps, the Mediterranen, the Karst and the Pannionian Basin. At the intersection points of this diversity, nature shows its numerous different faces. Slovenia is also a country of churches, which shed light on art and architecture of the region as well as on the ancient way of life. The country is rich in architectural monuments. The capital Ljubljana for example, is an exhibitional ground of the works of Jože Plecnik, a famous European architect. His life and works is subject of an exhibition at the Museum of Architecture at Ljubljana. On top of that, Slovenia has more than 200 Museums and museum-like collections. The important cultural heritage of Slovenia is found in the National Museum, The Slovenian Ethographical Museum and the Museum of Natural History. The Museum of WW I at Kobarid has been awarded as European Museum of the Year by the Council of Europe.
