Sailing in Slovenia

The bay of Piran is a starting point for trips to the Adriatic as well as for excursions to the back country of Slovenia. The coastside enthuses with charming towns, attractive vantage points at the bay or at the sights of the closeby Karst. Coming to nautical tourism, there are modernly equipped marinas in Portorož, Koper and Izola. A particular yachting centre in Izola is providing technical services at the shipyard. All marinas provide fuel supply. Petrol stations for boats are also present at the public pontoons of Piran and Izola. The border crossings at the Slovenian coast are open over the year, the border at Izola are serviced from Mai to Octobre. Tha nautic country of Slovenia proudly presents the greatest international nautic fair at the Adriatic: the Internautica attracts Slovenian and foreign exhibitors to Portorož in the month of Mai.
The bay of Piran is a quite popular sailing area. Sailings boats are for lease all along the coast. You just need a ship driving licence or you charter a ship including an experienced skipper. Furthermore there are sailing schools and sailing trips are on offer. Anyhow a lot of Slovenian sailors started their first experiences at the lakes of Slovenia – clubs there offer navigating and sailing courses, even far from the sea.
