The gem of romanic architecture stands solely on a hill above the village of Hrastovlje. Its interior is completely covered with frescoes, which have been restored excellently. A guided tour is offereed as this: a tape cassette of the desired language is inserted and a playback voice is reporting about the little church’s history and the frescoes at full length. Renown is the Fresco of Death Dance, showing the powerlessness of a rich and a poor in the face of death. The architecture is worth seeing, as the surroundings are as well.
