When clubs, balls and green ranges come into mind, thinking of recreation, you not only have a choice between many golf clubs, links and practice courses, but also will find them set up in a variety of different sceneries. 8 golf courses and 14 exercising courses stretch from the Pannonic northeast to the Karst landscape in the southwest, from the grassy submontane regions of the Julian Alps to the hills at the Sava. Their trimness, ease of reach, opening hours and additional tuition suit enthusiast players, who might want to improve their skills, as well as beginners, kids or families…
The eldest golf tradition has Bled, attracting golfers since before WW II and hosting international golf championships in 1976 for the first time. The Bled Kings Golf Course with a view of the alpine peaks has been supplemented by the links of Jezersko with its water hazards 10 years ago. Further golf courses are to be found at Lipica, home of the Lippizzaner horses and starting point of excursions to the Karst landscape, at the Arboretum Volcji potok, a great attraction with a centuries-old park, at Mokrice, the picturesque castle site nearby Catež, at the spa of Moravske Toplice amidst the Pannonic scenery with thermal springs, at Ptuj, the oldest city of Slovenia, thus with a century-old tradition, At Slovenske Konjice, encircled by hills and vineyards, and at Podcetrtek, near the spa of Olimia. Finally that offer is still enlarged by a handful of indoor golf ranges.
