Aquatics in Slovenia...

The Slovenian rivers, lakes and the Slovenian part of the Adriatic provide the most varying enjoyments of water – from relaxing traditional boat trips to adrenalin tours passing white water. The River Soca and its wild tributary streams is a most popular venue for adrenaline sportsmen. Courageously they pit their strength against the water, kayaking or canoeing, rafting or canyoning their way through narrow gorges, passing cataracts and deep waters - even “hydro speeding” downstream on a plastic bobsled.
Adrenaline water sports take place on the rivers Sava and Savinja, kayaking, canoeing and rafting also on the rivers Krka, Kolpa and others. These adventures are provided by experienced guides of sport agencies, offering courses and equipment as well. Calmer river sections are used for family rafting; on the Kolpa they offer watery trips taking several days.
Scullers are seen on Ljubljanica, the Drau and Mur and of course on most lakes – either on natural lakes as those of Bohinj and Bled or on any of the unnumbered recreational bodies of water. Rowing boats are seen – besides Bled and Bohinj - on the lakes of Zbiljsko jezero, Ptujsko jezero, Velenjsko jezero and others. At some lakes, sail boarding is possible. When filled with water, the periodic lake Cerkniško jezero is a real paradise. At the coastside you find diving, sailing and nautical courses. Different agencies lend boats, water scooters and other water sport equipment. Para gliding, water skiing and sail boarding is also on offer.
